Located in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River and the central belt of central China, Jingzhou is a gateway leading Jianghan Plain and Dongting Lake Plain to rivers and seas, a place of vital military significance in ancient times, as well as a place where merchants and businessmen gather in modern times. It has been renowned for a saying that goes, "Those who wins Jingzhou wins the country". It enjoys convenient transportation, with highways, railways, air routes and waterways running from east to west and from south to north. With the full commencement of the construction of Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway (formerly Mongolia-Central China Railway), a great channel in the north-south coal transport project, as well as the comprehensive improvement of the channel of the Jing River, Jingzhou is stepping up efforts to develop into a modern integrated traffic hub and an important logistics channel in the Yangtze River Delta.

Railways: two horizontal lines (Jianghan Plain Railway, Wuhan-Yichang Railway); two vertical lines (Haolebaoji-Ji'an Railway, Xiangyang-Jingmen-Jingzhou-Changde Railway)

Highways: a highway network of five vertical lines (Erenhot-Guangzhou Highway, Shashi-Gong'an Highway, Qianjiang-Shishou Highway, Suizhou-Yueyang Highway, Wuhan Metropolitan Area Loop Highway) and three horizontal lines (Shanghai-Chongqing Highway, Wuhan-Songzi Highway, Yueyang-Yichang Highway) has taken initial shape, five Yangtze River bridges (Jingzhou Yangtze River Bridge, Jingzhou Yangtze River Highway-Railway Bridge, Shishou Yangtze River Bridge, Jingyue Yangtze River Bridge, Jiayu Yangtze River Bridge) have been completed, highways with a total length of 574 kilometers have been open to traffic, and highways are accessible to all counties, cities and districts in Jingzhou.

Air: Downtown Jingzhou is only 220 kilometers or a two-hour ride from the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, and only 90 kilometers or a one-hour ride from the Yichang Sanxia Airport. The Jingzhou Civil Airport was completed and launched in January 2021.

Water: Yangtze River Golden Waterway stretches 483 kilometers across Jingzhou. Jingzhou (Yanka) Port is the third-largest integrated port behind Wuhan Port and Chongqing Port only in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. With an annual container handling capacity of 600,000 TEUs, the port can accommodate 5,000t ships. Jingzhou Port is a national category II port consisting of one port and 10 areas. With a land area of 1,030 mu, the port includes customs, commodity inspection and frontier inspection facilities. 

Customs clearance: Jingzhou borders on Yangtze River Golden Waterway. Jingzhou Port is a national category II port and a national category I port is about to open. The port is directly accessible to 5,000t oceangoing freighters all the year round.
